How we made it: the garden

Little hands reaching for all the fruit. A wise man once told me that fruit was harder to grow than vegetables. However I’ve always found it the easiest - as long as you find a way to protect fruit bushes I’ve found they don’t need regular watering - I just prune and mulch. The pop-up laundry bins have worked a treat over the bins we salvaged and we appear to have beaten the pigeons 🤞🏻. Yes, they’re not the most attractive things - but we’ve got a good haul of fruit and that’s what matters! Once we’ve harvested the berries I’ll take the laundry bags down and store for next year. Overall, a success 🥳
The house, garden and allotment all feel very chaotic currently. Plants by the back door swapped for bags of cement. But no one told the flowers about the chaos, and they’re just doing their thing looking utterly beautiful 💕.
It’s the time of year where the fence disappears. The clematis and rambling rose are taking over the second arch, the hens at their happiest and the to-do list never ends. ➡️ For a video featuring chaos and a bit of Rowan protesting my filming in the sling (the mum life juggle). The broom is moving to my wonderful in-laws’ garden because I want another rose in its place 😉. The bottom borders are generally full of plants the hens can’t destroy, and roses work wonderfully for us… don’t think I need another excuse!
Seven lovely things from the last week:
Hello, it’s been a while 👋🏻. ➡️ for the reason 🏡! We’ve been in our house for seven years and it’s been our goal to knock down some walls to create a family room and open the back out onto the garden. Well, after years of delays work has started! But in all honesty it’s also been absolute chaos trying to pack up our house around two small children 😂. We spent Saturday in the garden where I was perched on a steel beam while making space for the annuals. It’s still my goal to keep the garden and allotment going through this time, but who knows what we’ll end up growing. 🙈 Anyway, I have so many updates so I’ll take to stories. I just wanted to share my excitement. (And while I don’t share lots of house stuff, I’ll let you know when the back wall is knocked through!)
